Interesting so far. The Kanye performance was fun (speaking purely from a stage presentation POV), Tina and Beyonce was pretty good too.

Ok so far. Tina is probably the Highlight...How old is she now? John Fogerty seemed to enjoy it.

I could do without Beyonce,, Rhianon, Country chick

Glad to see The Band, Burt Bacharach, and The Beatles Honored.

Hey, how can you not love 4' tall flashing neon ticks? I don't listen to country, so I had no idea that "I want to check you for ticks" was really the name of a song. smiling smiley

John Paul Jones was looking pretty good conducting the orchestra for the Foo Fighters, who did a nice job with their set, IMHO.

Nice dig by Vince, yes.

Louie Prima is rolling in his grave though, after what Kid Rock did
to "Old Black Magic" . . . Keely Smith had better timing, and she's in her 70's.

Kid should have presented to Kanye.

I'm enjoying the entire show. Kenye West doesn't bother me, he's just a very young 30 I think. He will probably grow up eventually.

Why does every music show have to have mosh pits? I think they are just stupid. Especially since there is no "moshing" going on.

Too many commercials.

If only. Did they actually join him on the song he used them in?

Not perfect but not bad considering how difficult a show it is. They must be pretty loud onstage-most singers are pretty pitchy tonight (barring Kid Rock, who is always off pitch) smiling smiley

Yep they were there, if only in a somewhat limited role for the last minute
of the song. (For those who don't know, West sampled their "Harder, Better, Faster,
Stronger" for his song "Stronger".)

Now go buy/download Daft Punk's ALIVE 2007!!! Great live set from last year
that encompasses years of their music.

Props to HERBIE - 43 years since a jazz artist took best album!
That CD is great as as well! (Joni covers by various female artists with
Hancock & who's who backing band such as Wayne Shorter on sax and Vinnie Colaiuta on drums)

I lost interest in the Grammys when Milli Vanilli was voted Best New Artist, or whatever the hell it was.

Alicia Keys was great, esp to start of f w/Ol' Blue Eyes. I kinda like Carrie Underwood in Hooker boots!

Yeah, I did end up watching it thanks to your heads-up. One benefit to being on west coast time, I suppose.

Even though the robotic duo didn't get much camera time, they really Daft Punked-up the whole visual presentation of that song. Kanye's neon jacket and glasses, the neon backdrop, even the violins and bows in the string section got neon-ed. The Pyramid touched down and I guess someone told some people in the front of the audience to make the sign of the pyramid with their hands together. Sweeeeet!

Those faux touchscreens that Daft Punk were plunking away on looked kind of neat. Definitely not what they take on tour, of course.

And yeah, everyone else must go and get Alive 2007. They did a masterful job of streamlining their older material and making it flow all together. I think I have to say they put on the best live show I've ever been to, and I've been to probably thousands of shows over the past 25 years.
