Now if they'd only come up with an unlock for the older phones. I was surprised to see that, too..but I think it only works on new, OTB iPhones with the latest firmware. I suppose I'll wait and hope for the next crack. I'm on a jailbroken unlocked iPhone with TMobile, and love it.

Why doesn't Steve just offer the kid a job. He obviously knows more about the firmware then the entire programming team at Apple. Give him legal immunity, a 6 figure salary, stock options, and let him telecommute. See what he does then.

Not necessarily.

Wait...did he "re-unlock" it? Or just unlock it? Was it locked, then unlocked, then re-locked again, and he re-unlocked it? If it was unlocked in the first place, he didn't need to relock it and unlock it again did he? lol

what does this do for me?

I want to make my own ringtones out of my already owned songs.

I want to play the nes emulator.

Does this help me or is this nerd love stuff?

When is the sdk going to be released so I can actually get some decent 3rd party apps?

Unlocking means you can use another GSM carrier instead of at&t.

You can make a 30sec ringtone with Garageband from your music.

You need to "jailbreak" your 'Phone (MUCH nerd love) or use iToner (which is broken for awhile with each update) to add your own ringtones for over 30sec. (And under, if you want to.)

I think Jailbreak is needed to add an emulator. I don't follow that stuff much.

The SDK is supposed to be released this month, but I've seen/heard no date.
