Transfer legal-non iTunes songs from a Mac iPod to a Windows laptop

A co-worker wants to know how to transfer songs from her Mac iPod to her recently purchased Dell Inspiron laptop. Yes, she owns a 400MHz iMac; needs the PC for Windows only school homework. TiA

iPod: 40 Gig video
Dell laptop: Inspiron 1525 running Vista Basic

she needs to transfer from the imac to the PC and cut out the ipod

can she burn CDs?

An iPod formatted for Mac won't mount in Windows. So however you do it here, the songs need to be on the iMac first, which I suppose they probably are already but if not copy them there (use Senuti or similar program if necessary www.fadingred.org/senuti/).

Erase the iPod and reformat using the Dell. It will then work on the Mac, too. THEN you can use the above google link for various ways to copy from the

If you have a flash drive, external hard drive or some such thing you can avoid using the iPod for the transfer and just copy the iTunes folder over, but presumably she'll want to use her iPod with the Dell so sooner or later it'll have to be erased then reforatted.
