If it is for going international--go to Settings>General>Network>Make sure International roaming is off.

Not sure how or for that matter why you would turn it off in the US?

Are you typing on your iPhone? So far you've written only short, two or three word cryptic shorthand code. Like

"Intel"

What does that mean?

Are you on the German border, hiding from Intelligence officers, secret agents, or the police? Trying to cover your tracks? Or do you mean "Intel" as in, computer chips? Are you smuggling microprocessors across the border? Or do you work for a counter-intelligence agency, and aren't at liberty to disclose your mission?

Do you have access to a full-sized keyboard?

On my iPhone, I'm able to access settings like SSH, Edge, Socks server, Bluetooth, WiFi...

...but I realized, it's because I'm on an unlocked jailbroken iPhone, and enjoy a variety of third-party apps and utilities. I'd forgotten that some folks here are only using Apple's limited version of the iPhone, I sort of assumed all of us here are using iPhones in the wild.

The apps I use to access these settings are iToggle, and BossPrefs.

Ken, guitarist and co -- yeah, sorry, I was typing hurriedly on my iPhone keyboard as the plane was about ready to depart for Germany (that's why it said intel instead of intn'l I think my phone "corrected" my type). No, the phone isn't jailbroken so no access to all those cool settings. I am back now, I checked my usage and it isn't too bad. I had the phone turned off for long periods just in case data roaming off didn't do it.
