just finished my week as a Nielsen TV ratings family

Figures that what is probably my one and only time comes during the middle of the writers' strike with nothing on. My favorite shows weren't even being rerun. Bah.

I can guarantee there was no reality TV in my viewing logs. ;)

I've gotten one of those maybe every decade or so. I always lie through my teeth, listing the shows I wish I had watched or felt like I should have watched, with the result that I don't trust the Nielsens at all.

I was invited to get a box put on my TV, but it turns out that they put a box on EVERY television in the house, so you can't, say, watch some crappy sitcom but have PBS on your box TV. I think I recall that they have to go through the whole house to make sure you aren't keeping one of your TVs a secret. Plus there were some other restrictions that I no longer recall. It sounded like a real pain in the butt, to be honest, so I said No Thank You.

So-do they still use paper booklets, or have they advanced to using the intarweb for getting your feedback? My only experience with them is from the very early 90s-had to fill out paper booklets and mail them back.

Paper booklets and they ask you for a list of channels available to you. I printed the list from the Comcast web site and put all 14 pages in with the form. Probably cost them $5 to get it back not to mention the $5 they included with the form. I felt guilty enuf that I did log everything, and just everything, I watched. Wasn't much of a list.

Yep, paper booklets. It must be an enormous pain for them to do the data entry.

My only fib was after sitting down to watch a show, something came up and I didn't watch it. But I already put it in the book and left it in.
