"The Wire" 2 Episodes remain and it's bye bye HBO

I cannot even begin to quantify how much I've enjoyed the 5 years of watching "The Wire." I love movies, television and theater. There will "never" be a show, in my opinion, that has been so consistently awesome from year to year, episode to episode. I only have 2 episodes left and it feels like I'm losing a real friend. It's "The Shield," times 10, "Homicide" times 10, "The Sopranos," times 2. I loved all of them.

[sigh]

I suggest waiting until they release the box set.

Never heard of it...

I think that's what the problem has been.

I love it too. As well as them others.

Another long-time fan here (I own seasons 1-4).

Just watched ep 59 (the series penultimate) via HBO On Demand
and all I can say is WOW.

The series finale airs March 9th and is 90 minutes.
There will not be an On Demand version of it, so you won't be able
to see it until Sunday March 9th.

And oh yea, the reason you haven't heard of it is because it's not
filmed in NYC or LA. Baltimore. On location. The same reason they
believe they've been snubbed for Emmys year after year - they are
not on Hollywood's radar, yet the show is consistently praised by
critics and viewers alike...

miK., love that image of McNulty, Kima and Stringer Bell in the window. I wasn't prepared for how I felt during episode 59. Wow indeed. It was good to see Lt. Daniels on "LOST."

Just watched #59....great episode. I've been waiting all season for that episode. We finally got to see some real emotion from Marlo. I've been waiting to see Bunny and Namond again, too!

The Wire is one of the greatest shows of all time. I've never seen a show that packs more content into one hour. No detail is irrelevant....there is absolutely no mindless filler.

I watch Lost, but it's so heavy handed compared to the Wire. Next to the Wire, every other show makes me feel like the writers are making me use training wheels.

I've only watched a handful of episodes scattered over a few seasons, but I can already see why the show garners such high praise. We're trying to start from season one and work our way forward chronologically; doing that with any series represents a significant investment of time, but it beats watching pretty much anything else on TV right now.

I just started watching it from season one. I'm now half-way through the second season. I've managed to put all four seasons on the Tivo and am in pig-heaven, so to speak. The Wire is probably one of the best ensemble productions I have ever seen and I'll be sorry to see it go.

I agree with everything here. It really is that good. I believe people who don't pay close attention to it might not appreciate it. My wife "samples", or multitasks, and even she has realized she can't during this show. If you miss a "look", or any of many details, you're likely to get lost. When a box set comes out, I'll be buying a few for friends. kj.

Actually I haven't watched episode #59 yet. I'm still "dealing" with #58.

I just finished watching the latest episode.

I only saw a few last season, but I've seen every one this this time 'round.

Season 1 for me too! NetFlix. here I come.

Now for the spoiler question:

What was the significance of the OCME's "corrective action"?

I recognized Door #2, but don't know why that scene was important. I will watch it again tomorrow.

Spot on, way better than the Sopranos. I will do what I always do, save them up and watch them over one or two nights.
