Anybody following the Apple Event? All about enterprise...

...so far.

ActiveSync for email.

Lots of other stuff that means nada to me, no comprende.

This is major news! Does no one else recognize it for what it is? This means that Apple not only has a foot in the door for Enterprise, but it is Microsoft that is holding the door open for them. They've gotten their hooks into Active Sync. The iPhone gets push email and remote wipe meaning that it is now a viable option for enterprise use. This will open up the iPhone to a HUGE new market.

Nice pictures from engadget.

And now they're talking about the SDK--more consumer-ish, eventually.

Game Demo. Touch fighter. Took two weeks to write. Open GL and Open AL for apps. Game looks great. Point to shoot, tilt the accelerometer to steer!

On a JailBroken phone---I am sure we will see it on a regular phone so there is a way to have a revenue stream. The only part that concerns me is the mention that the SDK can't mess with Audio out. A real GPS would have external speakers since the iPhone speaker is too weak for turn by turn directions.

The iPhone can already play on external speakers, either wired or bluetooth.

Sounds better even than anticipated. I hope they can ramp up their production capacity (and associated stock price). Bye bye blackbird...er, um...blackberry.

From the Q & A

B. Lam:
Q: Business apps are coming, should RIM be worried?
Steve: Go ask them.

11:24 AM ON MAR 6 2008

B. Lam:
First Q: What does the 100m iFund do for the community?
Steve: This is going to help young developers with funding. It helps the whole iPhone ecosystem.

Make sure you go to the bottom and read about The App Store and the new way of controlling and rolling out new apps.

I admit it: I can't figure out if/when the iPhone will be able to access our flipping Microsoft Exchange server. Is that true as of now?

This whole iPhone thing is really breaking all the rules. Used to be, when Apple announced something, it was ready to ship that instant.

Now with the iPhone, anything they announce is 4 to 6 months away. And whatever it is, it will cost iPod Touch users money to get the same thing the iPhone users get for free.

Bluetooth is during phone use only I think

External speakers in a clip on GPS so it is all one package

Well, this was a developers' event, not "ours", so that doesn't bother me.

And the Touch is not a 'Phone. It has more memory, and costs less.

If you want leather and the high-end audio system, you either buy the LS model and get it as standard equipment, or the DX and pay for the option.

And Stevie did say something about accounting for the Touch in a different manner.

The beta site is open for the enterprise market.

I hope I can convince my organization to subscribe.

I think this was a cool event - better than I expected.
