eyehome dead?

My eyehome will not power on at all. No lights no nothing. I've unplugged and replugged everything on the back and no dice. So i thought it might be the cord. Can anyone point me to a cord I can order online that would suffice? I cannot find any markings on mine so i wouldn't know what to get. Since I got it on ebay, I'm not even sure its the actual power cord.

I had the same problem a few months back and ended up buying a 5V supply from ebay and doing some surgery to put the proper tip on it (salvaged from the dead power supply).

The power adapter tip they are using seems very much non-standard and hard to find.

Both of my eyehome's had a failure of the power adapter. In both cases I bought the universal power adapter from radio shack plus the correct time. It was pretty spendy, around $25 as I recall.

The amperage doesn't matter as long as it is ABOVE the minimum required.

You want a 5V power supply. I believe the original was spec'ed at 1A, so anything 1A or higher should be fine. I ended up with a 2.5A supply.

Jeezo!
Look at the specs on your PS.
See if your center conductor is + or -.
Measure the size of the barrel.
Match it up.

A. I'm at work now. So its kind of hard to look.
B. As i stated in my original post, there are NO specs on the power supply. Which is why I asked to begin with.

Thats why I was wondering if it was the original cord. I thought the original would have SOMETHING on it. And apparently it does. Which tells me i got a 3rd party cord from the get go. Oh well.

Had the same problem a few months back, thought it was a goner but ElGato advised me that it was most likely the power adapter. Picked up the universal adapter from Radio Shack and that done the trick.

When & Where did you purchase?
When ElGato was blowing out the EyeHome some of the units sold to 3rd party dealers were units that had been in for repair under warranty.
ElGato didn't sell them, they were sold to 3rd parties who resold them.
Most of the warranty issues were power supplies and an issue with the LED on the front panel.
RED = Standby
GREEN = On
Some of them were hooked up this way.:
GREEN = Standby
No LED = Power
A lot of those went back and replaced under warranty.
One of the four EyeHomes I have is wired that way, I can't kvetch, it was FREE!!

Bought it off ebay. I never thought anything of it since it worked fine when I received it. Will get the new power cable and see if that remedies the situation.

Yeppers, alot of the warranty issue ones ended up on eBay.
They got a few box loads from ElGato.
ElGato neither manufactured, nor fixed them so they had quite a few left over with bad PS's that they sold to 3rd parties.

Both of my original power supplies had specs printed on them so I think bgr has nailed this one.
