Hmmm...

A few things here...

In some states, you can get free online efiling, it does seem that TaxACT is legitimate and one of those free services, but they aren't the only one.

Also, the TaxCut free download appears to be Windoze-only...?

Here's my question to the groupmind:

If eligible for the free online filing, better to use that, or to pay for one of the online efile services (e.g., TurboTax)? On the one hand, I don't like having to pay to efile, and am eligible for free online efiling. On the other hand, I don't like the idea of a third-party company (like TaxACT) having my info on their servers... there are privacy issues, and also it would seem a prime candidate for hacker attacks.

Also free (assuming you already own a pen or pencil)

Yup, Lux, that's the route I might end up going, if the choices are between paying for efile or giving my info to one of these third-party companies. I would have used Telefile, but they eliminated that this year.
