The whole point is that it is supposed to come out. With that thing if someone trips over the cord you can kiss your USB port good bye, and who knows what cosmetic damage.

No, look at the symbol, it's a USB. The whole point of the MagSafe is that it should come out if you trip over the power cord, which is exactly what this device prevents from happening.

I think this device should be called MagDanger (as opposed to MagSafe)

It would be very beneficial, if for some unknown reason, you were running your MacBook/Pro without a battery.

...but as the video shows, it can easily be slid on while the MagSafe is in use and can be very nice for (as the video shows) you have the machine in your laptop on a couch, chair, bed, etc. - I know I've had it pop off many times when I've had it on an uneven surface like mentioned and then it'd fall to the floor, I'd have to lean over and grab it...rinse, repeat. ; )

I might pick one up. Thanks.

If only they could come up with something to keep the screen from lifting up when I push that silver button the front.

I've had mine pop off twice.

I need some kind of lap tray to keep the heat down, like the Rain product I have for my PB12. That would probably minimize the disconnect to zero.

But I can see how that product would work. The cord could still be pulled out in most if not all circumstances where you wanted it to. That device seems like it would allow for the kind of disconnects one would want while preventing the unwanted kind.

Comparing the vertical force needed (nearly none) to disconnect the MagSafe (sounds like a type of ammo) to that required to "pull" the connector off (in technical terms- a lot) that adapter seems like it would work as designed.

And from the looks of it, it seems very unlikely that it would damage a USB port. Compare the "plug" portion of the MSP to that of an actual USB connector.

For my money, if there is any weak link it's the cable itself, and whatever Apple passes off as a strain relief.
