It will give people false hope nonetheless.

Where there's life there's hope.

He was in a coma for ten years. Only his family can make the judgement of whether the wait was worth it.

No I would not give you false hope
On this strange and mournful day
But the mother and child reu-nion
Is only a motion away, oh, little darling of mine.
I can't for the life of me
Remember a sadder day
I know they say let it be
But it just don't work out that way
And the course of a lifetime runs
Over and over again

No I would not give you false hope
On this strange and mournful day
But the mother and child reu-nion
Is only a motion away, oh, little darling of mine.

I just can't believe it's so,
and though it seems strange to say
I never been laid so low
In such a mysterious way
And the course of a lifetime runs
Over and over again

But I would not give you false hope
On this strange and mournful day
When the mother and child reu-nion
Is only a motion away,
Oh, oh the mother and child re-union
Is only a motion away
Oh the mother and child reu-nion
Is only a moment away

That's sad. I remember this story from a year ago. I thought
that it was amazing that he had awoke after all that time. My
prayers go out to the family.

That's really true. I imagine they embraced the time they did have-both the amazing day when he came out of his coma and then the time of lesser interaction.

Sad ending to an heroic story. I am not sure the Buffalo NY firefighter was 100% here even after he woke up.

what do you mean by lesser interaction? Just curious of the point you're making.

I really hate how CNN makes a point to take a story and mold it to fit their definition of what is politically correct. Those of us in Buffalo and Western New York saw all sides of the story and there is much to rejoice in and be thankful for.

The awakening of Don Herbert is no less than a miracle from God. Even his doctor said there was more to it than just the effect of the medications.

He and his family were blessed to have a year to share a lifetime, and he now rests with the Lord. Do not be sad for this family, but be sad for those that have no faith and carry their burdens alone in desperation without hope.

I agree with MacManMAx, but a lot of families couldn't afford the $200,000 per year (aka $2 million) for just 14 hours of quality time - then another 14 months of nursing home care for a more quiet state.
