Lightscribe - anyone have it? how are the results?

Having been burned (ha ha) by that crappy disc T@2 or whatever the hell it was a few years ago, I'm pretty skeptical of the Lightscribe system. But I'm seeing quite a few Lacie drives over @ OWC with the feature, and it would admittedly come in handy for some project work I do from time to time.

(I don't really like inkjet printed discs, and honestly do not have the room for an inkjet to do this, nor do I want to go the label route. If it works, the lightscribe drive would sit neatly on top of my Mac and take up no additional space.)

So, does anyone have one? Is it difficult to set up the "printing" info? I know it takes a while to burn (this isn't a factor for my use, nor is the blank disc cost, since it is passed along to my clients) but is the printed side worth the time & effort?

I have one (on a PC).
Discs take from two to twenty minutes to burn the image and/or text.
Edit: Draft mode and text only for speed is good enuf for me, for a quick burn.
I have Sonic software on that PC and it is fairly easy and quick to use.
(similar to label software)

For a gold colored monochromatic label it's OK..

I find it easier to use than messing with labels.
(but with labels I seem to be all thumbs and make a mess )

Nicer to hand to a customer than a disc with magic marker writing all over it. smiling smiley

Exactly why I was considering it. Inkjets (either on disc or labels) aren't a solution, and though I write very very neatly a Sharpie looks unprofessional. That Casio printer deal isn't an option either.

The only other thing I was considering was seeing if I could get a print shop to do me up about 50 blanks with some pre-defined logo and info on it. (My company logo, contact info, and a few lines on it to write info on what's on the disc.)

I still think the Lightscribe is the cheapest alternative, all things being equal. Hopefully an OWC'er will see my post and comment, they sell them but I think a few of the guys there use them as well.
