kumquats

The school where I work as an after-school aid, the Chinese teachers and parents told me that eating these fruits help getting rid of the common cough. Here is the simple recipe: Smash the fruits into a bowl. Pour boiling water over them. Cover the bowl for 5 minutes. Then drink. My S/O is coming down with a cough so I need to take care of her. Does anyone here have other more tasty recipes? Thanks!

I forgot to mention that I have a box full of fresh kumquats which I just picked off from a couple of trees in a friend's yard.

The kumquats you use in salad must be both sweet inside and outside. The ones I have the skins are sweet but their juice is sour!

Reminds me of Johnny Carson and his Karnack the Great routine . . .

He would hold the envelope up to his forehead and mention the answer . . . then Ed McMahann (sp?) would repeat the answer . . . always to Karnack's consternation . . .

Anyway . . . (envelope up to head) and Karnack says "Kumquat."

And the answer is "How do you call a quat?"

MY little trivia contribution for the night . . . grinning smiley

drinking smiley cheers
