Oh jeez...what have I done...?

I'm usually not one to impulse buy a big ticket item, but I'm hoping that if this was a mistake, someone here will berate me accordingly. As mentioned in a previous thread, we're getting our son a black MacBook as a graduation/off to college present. He pretty much decided he'd rather have a refurb black than a new white, so after seeing one on Apple's refurb page this morning, then seeing it gone a minute later, I figured I'd have to act quickly when the time came.

So here I am at work, and on a whim I venture over to the Apple site and specifically to the refurb section. There are a bunch of them over there. It seemed like the best bang for the buck was the 2.2G at $1049, so I snagged one. I'm hoping that if I made a really foolish decision, someone will tell me and I might still have tiome to cancel or switch the order.

That's a good price for the black MB.

Looks great to me. In the end, an upgrade to 2GB RAM would be well worth it.

Why would anyone here try to talk you out of buying said item?

Unless you just spent the house payment money on it...

Do you want to adopt another son?

Do you go to a bar looking for people to talk you out of drinking?

A Brothel looking for people to talk you out of sex?

Congrats on the new MacBook! grinning smiley

I hate to be the one to burst your bubble, but that was, indeed, not the best purchase. You should have bought it for me! winking smiley

You guys are making me breathe a little easier, thanks. IIrealize it's not the very latest version, but it will be more than adequate for his needs. The 2.4G with the 250G hard drive was $1299 (+ tax), but this way I can spend the extra on Applecare (I will). I already have an extra 4GB of memory laying around that I couldn't use in my daughters core duo MacBook, so we're all set there. Hell, I even have an 80GB Firelite external drive still in the box that I'll give him if he needs the extra space.

the 2.4 white is $1299 - $75 rebate with no tax from a couple of places -- like amazon and macconection

still a good deal for the black, which i would want over the white too

although i will have to admit that my wifes core duo macbook, bought the day they were introduced, still looks brand new

no need to give him the firelight, just upgrade the internal later -- 320s are $105 and only take a few minutes to install
