The Olympics We Missed

"The Winter Olympics have been to NBC what icebergs were to the Titanic. With the exception of the prime-time figure skating competition Tuesday, ratings have been subterranean, as the Torino Games have been routinely trounced by everything from American Idol to the Home Shopping Network. Thus far the network's $613 million investment looks like it would have been better spent on Betamax stock."

Thank you NBC for the best US olympic Hockey coverage EVER. I'm shocked, stunned and amazed that they broadcast every damn game and the US games had NO comercial interruption. Almost all of them live. I'm floored. Haven't watched any of the primetime stuff.

Most complaints are that things didn't live up to stupid expectations. Who gives a fück if Bode miller underperformed. He went there, had a blast and they threw money at him. Not his fault...

I must have been one of the few who watched a lot. Especially in the middle of the night since I could not sleep while I was sick.

I did not watch one bit of H ockey.

I liked curling. Didn't watch anything else. Nor anything else on any of the networks unless my Replay grabbed something.

NBC's announcers are the worst. Bob Costas makes you want to change the channel.

I watched almost all of it. I have to get up at 6AM CST to walk the dogs so even caught the early morning curling, which I enjoyed a lot. I found Bode Miller an interesting character in spite of (or maybe because of) his being such a maverick. But the one that I came to like a lot was Apolo Ohno, who seems like a really decent guy and quite a competitor.

Hockey? I thought curling had become the premiere "ice sport".

What's the deal with curling?

I like it also, yet it's just, well, sliding a hunk of rock down the ice. It seems like the ice analogy of shuffleboard, yet I don't like that. I watched curling for hours and never got tired of it.

The other good thing--short track skating. Wow!

I'm an Olympics junkie. I watched a lot. Pretty much any sport.

Apolo Ono really surprised me. The guy was gracious in defeat, honorable in victory, and proud of every medal he won, regardless of color. He gave his all in every
race. Skated clean and strong.

Not only that, but he was well spoken and an inspirational interview.

Don't ask who the bell's for, dude. It's you.

I watched about as much as I could, even when I wasn't a big fan of the event. Enjoyed curling as well, even recorded some that was going to be on when I was gone. I was thrilled to see Ohno win last night!
