The refurb is 2.6 GHz and the new one is 2.5 GHz.

The only difference I can see between the new and the refurb is DL superdrive and 250GB harddrive.

Am I missing something?

thats a 5400 rpm 250 gig drive, but maybe you need space over the few seconds a 7200 pm drive gives?

Because 2.6 is a build to order option. Looks like you can upgrade from 2.5 to 2.6 for $250 on the current model.

With the price of the refurb being what it is and the student pricing + 100 rebate on a printer and free ipod touch. I might just go new.

these days, with the number of on-line suppliers who can sell new without tax, vs a refurb from Apple with tax, the price ends up about the same.

I just ordered a 2.4 MBP from the education store. My nephew's school has a deal on the MacBook Pro with APP (which discounts to $239) add that plus a free 8GB Touch and you can't beat the deal with a stick, even paying sales tax. The also offer the 2.5 for more $. I don't know if the deal is available on BTO, but probably worth a call. I didn't have his student ID available and they weren't concerned.

I almost jumped on a used Santa Rosa yesterday. I'm glad I waited.
