Another camera question/recommendation

I have a five year old Olympus C50 which I'm happy with but it needs a couple of new Li-Ion batteries ($40 total) so I'm thinking it might make sense to buy a new camera. The C50 has a nice lens, 5mpix sensor (which I rarely use to the full, in fact I find 1.9mp adequate for my needs), has a remote control which I use quite often instead of the timer. It's not particularly fast and has no video capability. So, having STF and read all about megapix marketing hype and sensor noise issues, what's the general consensus these days for a quality point-and-shoot to replace my trusty Olympus C50. One other consideration is the fact I'm planning to buy the new iPhone which is reported to have a mediocre camera. I'd appreciate hearing your thoughtful comments.

If you don't need OEM batteries, you can get 2 + a charger for $15 shipped on ebay.

Ebay is awesome for camera batteries.

As Grim said.

It would be silly to get rid of a camera you're happy with because you need a new battery.

if you have the charger, here's a retailer with them for $7.99.

This is an excellent camera. A little slow to the xD, but they all are slower
than we want them to be.

Unless you NEED movies from the camera, take a look at that ApeTek camera or ones
like it, for videos. If you want vids, get one made for it. The little vids are great for small
mementos, but even at 640x480, and even if you get an hour of video from a
"camera" - it's still not "video" worthy of much but people sitting at the same table with you.

If that $99 MonkeyTek camera were available, it would probably be your perfect addition.

It worked for Verne!!!

You know what you need? You need to buy this 0.3 megapixel camera from me:

Because things like zoom and pixel count are so overrated...
