Over 30 percent of the front page posts right now start with the work "FREE"

What is so difficult about concatenating them? Obviously there has to be a list you are working off of in order to post so many posts in such a short time.

Put them in ONE post!

"FREE: Here's My Latest List of Free Stuff"

That would be a fine Subject line.

It seems quite rude to not do this and instead push so many other posts off the front page.

Is there a reason not to do this?

Again, you are assuming it is Newton that's posting all of them.

. . .why are you askin me?

I didn't post those threads. . .

As previously stated, the reason I didn't consolidate my previous posts was because I tried consolidating in the other forum. . .

People ignored the consolidated posts. . .I'm guessing because you are basically forcing everyone to look @ the post. . .with the single posts people can choose to click into it or not. . .

As an example. . .I posted the free Beethoven symphonies in a consolidated post and no one cared. . .later it was posted in a single post and a frenzy erupted. . .

By the way the point is moot since I don't post multiple free posts. . .that take up 30% of the page. . . .

Again. . .I'm NOT trishno. . .trishno IS NOT I.

I can only control what I do and not what another forum member does.

Do I have to take a lie detector test?

Since you seem to have collected statistics, have you noticed how views fall off when a post goes off page 1?

As they can if your subject line read:

"FREE Beethoven symphony, vaginal contraceptive film, Krispy Kreme Donut, latex gloves"

Why not consolidate?

. . .uhm were you here when I used long subject headers. . .? people whined about those too. . .(as I've stated before. . .)

You can't win. . .

I don't know how I became the recipient of all this ire. . .when I didn't post any of the freebies that people are whining about. . .should I say it again?

I didn't post those freebies. . . !

The sample I posted isn't any longer than many headers.

It's not ire.

> I didn't post those freebies. . . !

You didn't post the "Beethoven symphony" offer? I just strung a list together as a sample of how a variety could be covered in a single post.

Not trying to express "ire." 'Just trying to find a solution that works for those who appreciate all your deals and those who don't.

The page does start to look like this:

I've benefited by a number of the "individual" FREE posts, so I strongly support Newt's efforts.

If you don't like them don't click them.

This reminds me of the folks who want to censor TV and radio for everyone else, instead of just censoring content by turning the dial or turning their set off.

That's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I think the hardest part about "concatenating" the posts could be learning what the heck "concatenating" is.

Keep the free posts coming and DO NOT combine them.

I love how a user is doing all they can to get us FREE stuff and all people can do is whine about it.

. . .What baffles me is why people are addressing the concerns to me when the posts in question were not posted by me. . .

. . .one side effect of this though is that people's true nature seems to rise to the surface. . .

Take from that what you will. . .

geez newt - don't worry what people think of you and your problems are solved. Take my posts for example. I didn't say STOP IT. I didn't call you a jerk. I just called you deranged and compulsive. But why should you care what I think? Don't.

And I really did think that you were both of the posters. i thought it was obvious. I thought you were kinda havin fun with it.

I didn't really know for sure because I almost never click on these freebie links and didn't realize that you getting roasted.

Get thinker skin,

do what you want (as long as no one gets killed)

Newt.. whatever you do, don't get "thinker skin" until you ask a board certified dermatologist if that is safe.

It's like jumping on the "Aft Skin" bandwagon, when @#$%& is plenty.

As for the posts... I understand the desire not to have a thread pushed off page one, but only people who deserve to be pushed off page one have that happen to them.

They have to learn to consult with you first to find out if you are done posting for a while, and THEN post.

grinning smiley

I've gotten a lot of stuff from you and Trisho. Even when I make snide comments in the thread about the offering, because that's just the kind of bitter, curmudgeonly kind of guy I am at such a young age. (I was MARRIED for FIVE @#$%#$ YEARS! I @#$%#ED THE DEAD A LOT, PAL!)

So keep doing the stuff here on the forum!

I suppose you could edit an existing thread and add to the subject line, and make threads contain up to ~3 offers, if the item will easily fit - such as in this example subject line:

"Free vaginal whatevers... panties, pisss pucks and Famous Anus cookies!"

But sometimes additional items won't fit - such as in this example:

"Free Encyclopedia Britanica paper based boat anchor with purchase of leftover books from 1989!"

Anyway... for those of you who must complain, START A THREAD ABOUT IT!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Newt, trisho, both of you, one of you...whatever...I don't give a flying monkey's ass whether you post a whole freakin' PAGE of freebies here at the newly engendered Macresource.com forum.

This place is all about freedom, and lack of censorship from the Brain Police, and by God if you nice people want to post freebies then GO FOR IT!grinning smileygrinning smileygrinning smileysmiling smiley

If I want to cruise through a day's postings in this forum, it's not such a big deal to simply scroll back to where the date changes, by page, and start from there *backwards*. I mean it's not like there are 10 pages a day being "ruined" by freebies for Chrissake. We only have, at most, 2 pages a day to deal with...what, maybe 3 a day? We should be so lucky.

Post as much as you want, and don't mind the absurd and whiny-laced criticisms from a tiny MINORITY of the guests here. I have the "Ignore" function set for a particular forum member here and it works just fine. For all you complainers, use the damn button if you don't like what you're seeing. End of discussion!

Guys, this really isn't an issue for me anymore. I'm not going to bother posting free stuff anymore because it took up a lot of my time and apparently a noticeable portion of forum users already see these deals at other places, so there's no point in me doing it. Concatenating is fine, except some of them don't go together all that well and the titles get too long, then people bitch about that as well, much like Newton stated.

By the way, Newton and I ARE TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PEOPLE. STOP BLAMING HER. We both live in NYC and own Macs, that's about it. If you have a problem with me specifically, please PM me and do not waste the forum's time and blood pressure. I'm not saying this because I'm thin-skinned, I'm saying this because I don't understand the passive aggressive methodology in place here with "getting the word out".

Anyway, sorry the past free posts upset anyone. I was trying to do a couple day's work in a few hours or so. Like I said, I won't bother anymore. I'll just stick to exploding iMac questions from now on.

Cheers all.

Well, this thread is prolly dead by now, but here goes...

Again, I have no problem with FREE posts in general, I just would rather see fewer of them at a time so we don't loose as much stuff off the front page so fast.

I understand Newt's point, too, though.

So how 'bout doubling or tripleing up, and using long Subject lines that still include all the items?

And that cat picture was purrfect, wasn't it...? heh.
