I think I saw this car 50 years ago. It looks so Disneyland Futuramaesque.

Saw this quite a while ago. That Linc is a 90s model. Wonder if the door still meets safety regulations. But hey, someone thought about it and did it. More than I can say about myself.

We had swivel seats fitted to all the vehicles used at the care home where I worked. Not only did they swivel 90 degrees but then they slid out sideways to allow easy transfer to and from a wheelchair. I thought at the time that it might come in handy when I'm older.

I like the idea, and combined with swivel seats, ingress and egress would be comfy indeed.

The only thing I don't like is the look of the car when the door is down. It's not as elegant as the concept.

It also gives a lot of exposure, possibly a mixed blessing for pantiless-girls in short skirts.

Mid '70s Chevy Laguna S-3s had them as well, and some Thunderbirds in the '60s (also with swing away tilt steering columns)

My grandmother had an Olds Cutlass with swiveling "Captains seats". I don't recall the exact year but I think it was a 1975 or 76 model. Pretty nifty feature, really.

Probably not a good idea to open the door when you're parked in a deep puddle.

I don't like the idea of the only exit from the car relying on battery power. I want to be able to get out at any time, under my own power.

Lots of cars these days rely on the electric door locks working. Many of those same cars automatically lock the doors at 15MPH. Pulling on the handle from the inside with the doors locked yields nothing until the electric door unlock button is pushed.
