So, they are also cutting out the 200 included SMS unless you want to pay up another $5/month. So, the increase is actually $15/line, not $10/line. Or, you could pay per message, 20 cents, which is actually higher than the current price of 15 cents/message.

How much is unlimited SMS to add on?

Yep… I'll be holding onto my 2g iPhone. I was lucky in that I had a 1000 min/month plan for $39.99/month (same as the current 900 min plan, but without the 5000 night & weekend minutes). When they launched the original iPhone, I only had to add $20/mo for the web & 200 texts…

To upgrade to the 3g version, I'd have to lose 100 anytime minutes/month (albeit with a gain of 5000 night & weekends - which I'd never put a dent in) and have to pay $35/month more.

No love here. I'll wait for the price drop.

You know... Really disappointed in the 3G pricing... I had missed too no SMS. I don't use SMS very often... but I'd still want it for the several times a month i do use. 3G nice... but not worth an extra $180 per year!

I think Apple is great... I think at the same time Jobs really scammed out with the whole new, better iPhone - $200 less than old iPhone... $200 less before the extra $360 over 24 month contract with AT&T.

Not cool.

I think we have the wrong perspective here (except cutting out SMS sucks).

These plans for the 3G iPhone are the same as other 3G phones such as the Blackberry, Treo or other data-rich smartphones.

I noticed this difference last year when I bought my 2G iPhone - at $599 it was not as expensive because it was $10-15 cheaper per month than a Treo or Blackberry.

that's close to what I pay for my Vzw phone before tax.
Actually $80 for 500 minutes, shared family plan, no SMS, "unltd" "data".

Where unltd isn't and where data is only mobile web.
And where the additional line cost me $10 (included in that $80).

yea it's expensive, so are gas and milk, and those don't last.
