I give up...got my iTouch but.....

I'm recharging it but all that shows up is a mailbox and notes on a CD picture and an arrow point to the CD.

I went on line as instructed to the itunes address but when I hit go the computer reverts to a general itunes page and not anything that relates to starting my iTouch.

I went to the iPod manuals but that doesn't show up on my mac! I'm running 10.3.x

Gee, what fun. Nothing happens!

I think you'll need Mac OS X v10.4.10 or later, according to [www.apple.com].

What do the system requirements say? I'm guessing 10.4 or maybe even 10.5.

The instruction sheet with colored pictures says nothing about system requirement but that must be it. Problem. I can't get my G4 or MacBook online without spending about 6 hours. Guess I'll have to try or have one cool bit of wasted money.

shouldn't something show up besides the mailbox? There are no icons. It is fully charged but doesn't stay on. Keeps turning off and I have to hit the home button to get the mailbox back. Surely, there is an answer to this.

I'm on 10.4.8

Some earlier said I'd be asked to register the iTouch. But nothing and it is connected.

I just got an 8GB touch. I believe it's set by default to turn off in 1 minute. That setting can be found in - you guessed - settings. Darn, I hooked mine right up to my MacBook Pro and transferred stuff, so I don't remember if mine was like yours when I opened it out of the box. Do you have the latest version of iTunes?

Since I have not buttons I have not idea what is on the iTouch. There is just that mailbox and CD/itunes disk icon. I can't get rid of it. I'm reading all I can on apple.com troubleshooting.

You said it's charging; is it plugged into a computer?

Be sure you have the latest iTunes and upgrade to at least 10,4.11. You should be fine then.
