What does Apple charge for inclusion in iTunes store?

I see on the iTunes site how to apply to have music and CD's included in the iTunes store, but I don't see anything about whether it is a good idea to do so.

How does the pricing work for the artist? Or, since I am trying to interest some "friends" who would they contact to pursue the idea of including their CDs?

TIA

Check out this thread (especially my posts):

Although that info on the links within are from a ANTI APPLE SITE, Apple is MORE than fair considering what Major labels give you.

Apple and the iTMS is a marketing and promotion vehicle, if used right, that also sells your music.

If they were a "retail store" (and used current brick and mortar tactics with Major labels), they could make HUGE PROFITS on product placement alone. Apple does most of that stuff for "free".
