LA computer Shipping Ripping!

My daughter lost her ear buds for her ipod mini.

I thought I would just get a pair at LA Computer Store for $14.99

Shipping is $8.06 Figure I might as well get 2 pairs, Shipping is $12.10 for 2 pairs.

Pretty steep since they would easily fit in an envelope.

end of rant

That is pretty steep. I guess we know where they made their money on those.

Get her ears pierced and thread the earbuds through them to prevent future problems?

For small stuff like that, it might be easier and cheaper to just buy it in a store. What's the tax in your area for a $15 item? Buck and a quarter?

It's not just them. I always check the shipping cost before I make that final click. Sometimes i grin and bear it, sometimes i see if I can find it at the store.

I've noticed a lot of places I order from have a shipping delay. For example. i ordered a FW ipod cable from Amazon today. i wanted it this week so I got expedited shipping. (still cheaper than the Apple store). Then i got a confirmation saying that my item will likely ship out March 2! So i pay more for shipping than the item costs itself and i have to wait 2 days before i even have to wait another 1-3 days.

I'm getting ripped of by an ebay seller...will not combine the shipping. Ships each item separately! amounts to 30.00 and no insurance option.

Why does any eBay seller actually ship anything when there is no insurance?

Um I shipped, guess the USPS lost it. Sorry.

Good point on asking to split the shipping. I make this a mandatory question when ordering two of a small item if shipping is high like in this case. PITA, yeah, but hey, it's the principle imho. I call and tell the cs person very politely that I enjoy doing biz with their company, that I like to keep sharing that feeling with my friends and others via the web, and I'd like to keep using [your company] so will you please delete that second shipping charge? If they don't, they don't get my biz. But I've never heard a no...thus far.

Goose, next time you might check out other earbud options. I bought a really decent pair of Sony over-the-ear (very comfortable, esp. when running) for about $10 at Target. If she has to have white ones, I do believe many other mfr's are now making the white ones as well. Also seen those at Target.
