OT: Looking back at the years gone by like so many summer fields

Looking out at the road rushing under my wheels
Looking back at the years gone by like so many summer fields
In sixty-five I was seventeen and running up one-o-one
I don't know where I'm running now, I'm just running on

Running on - running on empty
Running on - running blind
Running on - running into the sun
But I'm running behind

Gotta do what you can just to keep your love alive
Trying not to confuse it with what you do to survive
In sixty-nine I was twenty-one and I called the road my own
I don't know when that road turned onto the road I'm on

Running on - running on empty
Running on - running blind
Running on - running into the sun
But I'm running behind

Everyone I know, everywhere I go
People need some reason to believe
I don't know about anyone but me
If it takes all night, that'll be all right
If I can get you to smile before I leave

Looking out at the road rushing under my wheels
I don't know how to tell you all just how crazy this life feels
I look around for the friends that I used to turn to to pull me through
Looking into their eyes I see them running too

Running on - running on empty
Running on - running blind
Running on - running into the sun
But I'm running behind

Honey you really tempt me
You know the way you look so kind
I'd love to stick around but I'm running behind
You know I don't even know what I'm hoping to find
Running into the sun but I'm running behind

Well, I’m running down the road
Tryin’ to loosen my load
I’ve got seven women on
My mind,
Four that wanna own me,
Two that wanna stone me,
One says she’s a friend of mine

Take it easy, take it easy
Don’t let the sound of your own wheels
Drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don’t even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand
And take it easy

Well, I’m a standing on a corner
In Winslow, Arizona
And such a fine sight to see
It’s a girl, my lord, in a flatbed
Ford slowin’ down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, don’t say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is
Gonna save me
We may lose and we may win though
We will never be here again
So open up, I’m climbin’ in,
So take it easy

Well I’m running down the road trying to loosen
My load, got a world of trouble on my mind
Lookin’ for a lover who won’t blow my
Cover, she’s so hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
Don’t let the sound of your own
Wheels make you crazy
Come on baby, don’t say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is
Gonna save me, oh oh oh
Oh we got it easy
We oughta take it easy

The Doobie Brothers called asking for their royalty payment. Wasn't there something in the TOS about "copyrighted material?" At least attribute to them so it doesn't look like you're plagiarizing. :-)

Dude, it was Jackson Browne and the Eagles.
Go smoke a Doobie and straighten yourself out...

I actually like Jackson Browne's version of "Take It Easy" better.

Easy people.

I'm just feeling old today and I haven't taken advantage of all my opportunities.

I just posted to see if someone else might share these same feelings.

But now it's a music war!

I was gonna congratulate him on some fine writing then did a search and found this first:
[ntl.matrix.com.br]

Regardless of the author it was plagiarized, and unattributed copyrighted material.

From the TOS:
"By participating in any service of MacResource Forums / Price.com, you agree not to:
... violate any copyright law, or other intellectual property law...."

Or are you too stoned to remember, Joe?

What are you? 12 years old? Who elected you the TOS police?

BTW, writers are Jackson Browne for the first and Jackson and Glen Fry for the second. The Doobies didn't write either, Scooter.

bangman: nice post BTW. I hear ya. smiling smiley

The Doobies want their royalty for taking the "It Keeps You Running" idea for those other songs.

You started it when you wrote:
"Dude, it was Jackson Browne and the Eagles.

I'm not a "dude" and I'm not a stoner. All herbal pharmaceuticals are gifts from our creator, to be used and not abused to "straighten oneself out." Learn the lesson of "be here now" and move on. Someday you may need it for glaucoma or to get your appetite back during chemo (God forbid), but using any drug to "straighten oneself out" inevitable produces the contrary result.

I wasn't familiar with the lyrics, so I did a search, and the first thing I came across credited the Doobies. I listen to music, mostly jazz now, but I don't make it my life. I appreciate your correction on the author, but the fact remains it was posted unattributed as if the author of this thread wrote it. That's what I object to, just as you would if he were to post the lyrics to one of your songs without giving you credit and leaving the reader with the impression he wrote it.

Comprendé, dude?

Actually, you started it by setting yourself as the TOS police, I don't remember anyone here asking you to police the forum for possible copyright infringement issues.

So, of course, in a rush to be the TOS police and quickly make your childish post, you couldn't be bothered checking your facts.

>I listen to music, mostly jazz now,

You seem to make posting here a big part of your life. Maybe you should listen to more music and not spend so much time posting about subjects you are not so informed about?

Anyone that knows ANYTHING about music would not make that assumption. Those songs are very well known and you missed the author's intention. It was a quick thought, maybe not posted "all proper" to you but maybe you need to lighten up and pay attention to your own business? I certainly, as a songwriter did not find ANY offense whatsoever.

The post was light hearted as was my initial response to you, which you, obviously not knowing anything about those times or bands, totally missed as well.

Doobies, Doobie, Dude, the 70's...it was just a light hearted retort on my part. Sorry you are so sensitive and didn't get it.

Sensitive...see what I mean?

I am going to switch your posts to "ignore" right now.
You might want to do the same with mine.
