How is a person who has you on ignore, and then informs you that you are on ignore, really ignoring you?
Posted by: Guitarman

I don't get it. If someone is ignoring you, how can they tell you they are ignoring you? If they tell you they're ignoring you, they're not really ignoring you now are they? Seems kind of petty, stupid and b*tchy to me.

And it's as if I care.

Because Phorum is open source and with the power of Unix Underpants
there are dozens of freakware and opensores programs that allow you to
port the ignore button through a widget that scans for all ignored
messages and makes you aware of them on the distop -

I had you on ignore, then read your comments quoted in a subsequent post by a third party, so I decided I couldn't ignore you, and took you off ignore, only to find that "clicking to show" allowed me to quickly peek at you, reaffirm my revulsion, then hide you from sight again.

You're back on ignore now.

Unbelievable that nobody has asked the obvious question:

What happens if I set to ignore myself?

If a tree falls in the woods. . .and no one is there to hear it. ..does it make a sound?

honestly. . . it doesn't keep me up at night.

Dave's not here.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

Yes, but if you choose to ignore yourself, then you don't see your own posts? Then you don't exist. And if you don't exist, then how could you have made the post in the first place?

Temporal causality loops. They give me a headache.

Actually it's easy...all I see are the red lines of "User ignored-click to show/hide this message" when someone's on my Ignore list. And when a fellow, friendly phorum member posts in that Ignored person's thread, you respond to the friendly poster's message and still ignore the original message, from the Ignored user...or something like that!

I say we should lock Guitarthing and Refurbslut in a room together with a gallon of Vaseline and ignore both of them.

Speaking of Rene'

So René Descartes walks into a bar.

Bartender says "We have a special on our
microbrewery brand dark beer today.
You want to try it?"

Descartes' carefully considered the possibilities
and decided. He replied - "I think ........ not."

And he just vanished.

How come I can't see any posts in this entire thread? Is it because I set everyone to 'Ignore'?

We should all just ignore everyone else, that way we have a completely utopian society. no conflict, nothing.

Here's how I ignore things:

I saw the title of this thread and thought it was probably about Furious Styles, Otto, Guitarman, or one of a couple others. I clicked on it out of a sense of curiosity--a desire to see the train wreck, if you will. But before I finished reading even the first sentence, I realized that this petty B.S. is what I hate the most about the forum, because in my opinion, it's what detracts from it the most. So I immediately hit the back button, intending to completely ignore the thread (as I usually do), but then thought I'd add this post in the hopes that maybe it'll influence someone else to stop contributing to this junk, without which--in my opinion--the forum would be better off.

I used the ignore button on someone here for the first time yesterday.

It is so refreshing to "hear" no more whining.

This is like one of those agruments between two people who claim that they are not going to talk to each other ever again, so they find some intermediary to "tell so-and-so that I am not talking to him, and if he wants to do such-and-such he can forget about it" except the other person is standing right there so the intermediary doesn't have to say anything.

Funny huh?
