Pet friendly hotels?

I need to be in Indy, the Detroit area, and most of the major cities in OH on business a few times next year and am hoping to find pet friendly hotels so I can bring Cooper (my dog). I don't need (or expect) the Ritz but I'd like something above Motel 6.

Many Sheratons accept pets, as do Red Roof Inns and Ramadas. It seems that Ramadas vary WIDELY- I have stayed in some that were nice and some that were... well, lets just say NOT so nice. I am working a tradeshow at a Ramada in Indy so it would be convenient to stay there, but I am a bit hesitant to just "go for it." If the place is a complete hole, I'll find nicer digs and Cooper will spend a few days with my sister.

Any feedback on that particular Ramada and any suggestions for any pet friendly hotels in IN, MI and OH are welcome!

dmann, I was sent a review copy of a book about dog-friendly hotels and motels about a year ago. Obviously the authors had never spent the night in some of those hotels! One of our local crack-ho motels got a "warm and friendly" rating. I guess it depends on what you are looking for. I can't remember the name of the book, unfortunately, so I can't tell you to avoid it.

Gutie- that's what I'm afraid of! I travel quite a bit for work so I have seen the gamut of what is considered a "mid-range" hotel. I have also seen some "high-end" hotels that left much to be desired.

One night in a lousy hotel isn't the end of the world- 4 or 5 nights in a lousy hotel is something I can live without.

dmann, I checked Baltimore hotels on petswelcome.com and it seemed accurate to me. and the crack ho-tel was not listed, so I would consider them trustworthy.

(I nearly typed "trystworthy!" Oy!)

Actually, it is a LITTLE bit of a consolation. smiling smiley My new year's resolution (among others) is to not be horrified by the thought of dating.

We'll see if I make it 'til Jan. 2 with that one!
