Question about Step and Repeat in ID CS3

My first real project in ID. I created an image and then did a Step and Repeat to create a row. I'm trying to replace the original image in the duplicates but when I relink one they all change, even though only one is selected.

I can cut the individual images and Place new ones in each frame. Is that the only way it can be done or is there a way to change by relinking?

Couldn't find any info in the ID help or by googling.

There's an option in the Place dialog box when you choose the new image, "Relink All Instances of "File Name"". Is that checked?
