Get out and look at the Moon!

It's a beautiful Moon out there. There was a total eclipse earlier today, but not visible form the US. I went out to look at the Moon with my 10x binoculars, and I used a tripod for stability, man, the picture is so sharp and you can see craters and "rivers" on the Moon.

I also took some pictures, but mosquitos were starting to bite really hard so I could not stay and tweak exposure, aperture, etc. I just snapped a series to make sure I cover the entire range and I got back in the car. I will look later tonight and if I find a nice one I'll share later, but first I have to do something about these bites, it itches like hell, and then I have to put my son to bed, and watch Mr. Phelps go for no 8. So it may take a while until I look at the pics, and even then I am afraid I may not have a keeper...

I noticed it on the way home. Gorgeous! Even more so since clear skies have been at a premium around here lately.

Still full daylight here - something to look forward to, although there is enough haze to make it less than optimal here.

Down here they're calling that haze "smog." Although it isn't bad where I am, so I might be able to see the moon, should I remember, and if it's not behind a tree.

My SO called me last night to tell me to go outside and look at it (I didn't) but I just went out now. These are the nights I dreamed of when sailing to the Bahamas from FL - always crossed the Gulf Stream at night so I'd arrive on the Bahama Banks at daybreak. Those were fantastic crossings under a full moon with clear skies. Worst ones were in the rain with any northerly in the wind direction.

so if your SO calls and you don't do what they say, but when I say so you do it, does that make me better that your SO?

LOL, glad you went out and looked at the Moon, and it sounds like fun to sail on a full Moon

Beautiful here in Philadelphia. I took a couple pictures. I'm hoping they'll be less fuzzy than usual since the moon is so bright and clear.

sorry, the pics came out like crap, I had the camera in JPEG mode and I should have been in RAW, I think the dark background cause the camera to apply too much compression.

"The Moon. That's where I'll live. And I will meet there all the souls that I love; Socrates, Galileo,...and they will question my worthiness. 'What the devil is he doing here among us?' Philosopher, scientist, poet, DUELIST! Here lies Hercule-Savinien De Cyrano de Bergerac!"

Well dang. It's a beautiful evening, and the sky is clear, so I can see stars, but the moon is still hiding behind a bunch of very tall trees. I gotta get the timing just right, or it'll disappear again behind another stand. I'll probably forget and miss my opening. sad smiley

Darn blooz, it was overcast or hazy here in Greenfield. No clear view of the moon tonight.
