Looks like it will be pretty windy there on the west coast of Florida. Heck the Tropical Storm winds almost make it to Orlando in this forecast.

Seems like it would loose strength between Key West and Tampa.

all hot water between Cuba and Cape Coral... more so because of shallow depth.

The important thing to remember is the overall guidance cone (area in white). Fay's ultimate path can put it anywhere in that area.

There is also some talk about Fay stalling for awhile around Key West, if so, all that warm water could allow Fay to strengthen into a more severe hurricane before she takes her run up the Florida coast.

See that 2am Wednesday marker..... That's my house.

The speghetti models have it all over the place and NHC is trying to sound like they have it figured out but may as well be using chicken bones and herbs as forecasting tools.

This one is screwy.

My job means I have to go in and stay through the storm - the worse te storm, the longer/harder I'll be working. so today I'll look like the neighborhood nut because I'll be putting storm shutters up.

See that 2am Friday marker. That's just to the west of me! And man can we use the rain. Did get 1.65 inches yesterday, first sig rain in 3 weeks! I collect rain water for home use as my 900 ft. deep well is a victim of the drought. So, we here are hoping for this lady to come-a-courtin'

It's also tracking (currently) right over the homes of the dozen and a half relatives I have down there on the West coast. The cousin in Port Charlotte was a block from where Charly hit land in 2004, and it took almost three years before they got the damage to their house repaired. I bet I know some nervous people.

Sorry you guys. sad smiley Let's hope for the best.

2 a.m. Wed makes us on the "good side", and I'd say the creek is gonna rise. We've had 4 non stop days of rain, ditches are near full, time to hunker down.

I will take some rain, but not too much at one time. I don't feel like a flooded basement.

First I stress because it might flood. Then I make sure nothing important is on the ground.

Then I spend hours shop vacuuming. Then I bleach the floors, turn on fans, open doors and windows. Run the dehumidifier nonstop, increasing my electric bill.

Right now with 90 degree temps, and humidity, it won't be pleasant.

I'm sorry. You missed what I was teasing you about. I didn't mean to make you start thinking about this too soon. You said "I don't feel like a flooded basement." I, being kind of a smarta$$, was asking you to describe how it felt to BE a flooded basement. I apologize. Clearly a bad joke. sad smiley I certainly hope neither you nor your basement have to deal with a mess.

It is ok Alpha. I should not even bother to stress. It is what it is, and what will happen will happen.

I need to call the gutter people and make sure the gutters have been cleaned out. I have not seen them for some time.

Now this is why I'm now wishing I lived in a condo! I need to call my son and cajole him into getting here pretty soon to get my roof and gutters ready for winter.

The last three NHC guidance tracks have shifted from an initial landfall in the Tampa Bay area, to south of it, and now to the north. Of course, this is to be expected, since small deviations to the track this far out can result in landfall variances of a few hundred miles (due to the shallow angle of approach). Basically it's as mentioned before...right now it's a crap shoot as to where along the Florida coast (assuming a peninsular landfall) this thing hits. Important point to remember is that most everyone in Florida (but especially along the Gulf coast) needs to be making preparations.

That's what happened to me during Ivan. Worse, it happened when I was out of town and my wife had to deal with it by herself.

Work. I'm not hurricane hunting or anything insane like that, just doing some work in Florida.
