I went to my nearest store and the guy said they had a
run on them and he was out. He called the next closest
store they're out, one more and hit pay dirt but it's 12
miles away. So I paid him and they marked it sold and my
wife picked it up when she was in that area.


Anyway I downloaded the software listed in the earlier link
and it works like a charm. It's very sensitive down to 1
gram, a penny weighs 2 grams, a clothes pin weighs 7
grams and a medium rubber band weighs 1 gram.
Anyway I would say it would be great for those interested
in it for food use. It is switchable from grams, ounces,
kilograms, pounds, First Class to Express Mail cost
conversion. The mail conversion needs to be upgraded in the
software because it's at the old rate. The only thing I'd
like to see different with the software is actual lbs. and
ounces not lbs. and 1/10ths of pounds, ie: 1.999lbs then it
goes to 2lbs. That's a very minor quibble, I'm happy with
it. My old scale only went to 3 lbs. I tried one that went
250 lbs made by Royal but it was not sensitive enough.



This is the only free software that I know of that works with it
and the Mac for now. This a direct download.

This one is special, it connects to a PC and a Mac

SteveJobs, really nothing, but... for example, I am using an old-style spring-based postal scale, which isn't very accurate, and only goes up to 1 lb.

Grateful, there was a post about this scale at the "other place", where someone commented that it's not able to give pounds AND ounces, which would strike me as a very serious disadvantage. (This is borne out by your saying that it gives tenths of pounds, rather than ounces...) Reason this would be a concern is with plugging it into USPS, etc. where the websites typically have one entry for whole integer pounds and one for ounces, so I wonder what happens when you try to plug in the numbers into one of those.

By the way, the post at the "other place" seemed to be a direct rip-off of the one here, with no credit given... grrrr...

What's nice, as I mentioned before, is that if you weigh something that you are going to ship, once you set your home address preferences, you just press the on-screen button of the shipping agent (UPS, FedEX, DHL, etc–even for ebay auctions) and it goes online and fills the info in for you. Pretty Cool.

Big Daddy, but what happens with the pound/ounce thing?

Obviously I can't tell without buying one of the scales, because the app won't run without it.

By the way-- IIRC, the "Info" window in the app gives info about who wrote the software, so potentially that might be a source for an updated version.

I'm weighing some stuff for shipping totals tonight but haven't
gone as far as actually trying to see what happens with
direct entry, no time for play right now. People are barking
for totals. My little Royal EX3 does pounds and ounces but
it's not connectable to the computer.

OK, did a few quick tests. It converts it on the fly when necessary!

for instance, one site took the decimal lbs. another, the weight was .021 lbs and it put in one oz. (it's actually less than an oz, but the site onlt takes whole ozs.

Thanks Big Daddy Cool, that's nice to know. I'm going to give a try
with the direct entry in a day or two.

That doesn't surprise me. I hardly ever go over there anymore. Just
