Hmm...I wonder what gives. I was just able to place an order (but didn't). At least I assume so, since I was able to put the thing in my cart and apply the code.

Well, we'll see if it ships. I just placed an order for a book I've been meaning to get for awhile for work (Roarks Formulas for Stress and Strain). Normally costs between $90-$100. Got it for $25 shipped. Each successive page in the ordering process took awhile (a minute or two) to load.

Surprisingly I had no issues...and I didn't do anything special. I'd suggest shifting to another browser (Firefox?).

I apparently got through with an order, but it took a lot of reloading, and on the payment screen I had to re-enter the data a few times. Got $19 off on a $26 DVD set. Pretty good deal if it goes through. Thanks for the heads up!

I got as far as getting it in my cart, successfully applying the code, and entering my address information, but got bogged down at that point. I could save $40, so I'll give it awhile more.

What worked for me was getting the ISBN number from Amazon, then searching by ISBN number on Borders.

When the search didn't work, I used Google's site-search to find the items that I wanted.

'Took an hour or so of reloading... Finally got to the confirmation screen and there's a new "site down" message. Different from all the preceding ones. Tried to get past it a bunch of different ways. 'Looks like that's the end.

Yeah, now any attempt to click on a link from one of the main pages takes you to some new kind of "site down" screen. It was getting bad earlier when I ordered. In retrospect, glad I went ahead and ordered. I feel bad for clay and some others who were trying at the same time I was yet not getting anywhere. I wish I caught this deal earlier and posted it here (it seems I posted it about 2 hours after the original post on Slickdeals).

Like most such endeavors though, there's a high probability that these'll get cancelled.

oh well. no big loss--instead of spending $30 for a half dozen CDs that I didn't really need, I'll have that money for something else. We are trying to cut down on accumulated "stuff" around here anyway.

"Oops! You entered an invalid promotion code. Please try again."

No soup for me!!

Well, it seems their site is back up and running again...except this time they're on to the code and won't accept it. Wonder what they're gonna do about the bazillion orders already placed. This should be interesting. Y'all post your results, whether you get them or not.

Looks like they're playing hardball. I still have the order in my shopping cart, with the discount already applied, but now the site won't let me into the shopping cart to complete the transaction. It just brings up a page with with no items listed. I tried adding a new item, but then it puts up an error message saying "this feature" isn't currently available.

Dirty pool, Borders. Dirty, dirty pool. :-)
