I like this lens. It's fast.

Is that a motion trail from a long exposure? I would go longer to enhance that effect, or shorter to get better focus. fun stuff.

It's not terribly long. Only about 40 seconds, but enough to get a small motion trail.

I'll go longer once I've got a remote.

for long exposures, you really need to use film.

You can get longer exposures by stacking your shots. If you have an interval timer on your camera, you can set it to take 30 minute exposures with stacked shots. I haven't tried it yet...but someday I will.

All I ever really needed to know, I learned from watching Star Trek.

Racer,

I will get film. I actually have a Pentax ME Super with a 50mm lens and a remote shutter release.

Those aren't stars... you just have dust on your lens cap!

I spent the weekend up above 10,000 ft - some great night skies.

There you go. For some stuff, film is still the best option. Its just another tool to chose from. For some things, its the right tool.

Nice, I was up by Independence Pass this last weekend. It was easy to spot the satellites. Quite a few shooting stars.

I thought the purpose of using CCD sensors for astrophotography was to get rid of reciprocity failure.
