Are there any key loggers that affect the mac

Hi guys,

My oldest just called from college and says that he clicked his browser on a site that supposedly had a key logger on it. Ever since he clicked on it he says his computer seems slow and his internet connection has slowed to a crawl.

I told him that as far as I know there are no virus/worm/malware programs for the mac that are in the wild.

Is that still true?

Thanks for you help.

There are keyloggers for Macs, both in software and hardware, but you're not talking about a keylogger.

Tell him to clear his browser cache.

The site he went to likely has 'predatory marketing' stating that there was a keylogger present, etc...in the hopes he might purchase their software (Windows-only....but who cares, a sale is a sale to those people) to eradicate such things and make him "safe".

As suggested, just have him clear his cache...reset Safari...whatever needed - probably will function fine afterwards.

If still being slow, then perhaps it is coincidental with his network connection having fits with the network being slow (many students using it!) and psychologically he is just realizing it or being more observant because of the web site he saw.

Perhaps he needs Internet Pipe Scrubber, Hard Disk Balancer and WiFi Speed Spray to rev things back up to speed:
