Just had my first smoothie

It was so good, I can't believe I've never had one before. The base was vanilla yogurt and they added chocolate and peanut butter flavoring, it's called peanut butter cup (which is my weakness, my kryptonite). I had it instead of my normal half sandwich and the calories total up to 345 which isn't too bad.

Sometimes it is what it is...
and then there's times when it's really better.

Ok, I can see never having sushi, but a SMOOTHIE? Wow.

Good for you for being willing to try new things!

PS: Don't forget that smoothies are very easy to make at home. My current favorite is 1C vanilla yogurt, 1C orange juice, 1-2C of berries (I like the frozen mix of strawberries, raspberries and blueberries)

While fresh fruit will definitely give you more flavor, the frozen berries are easy to find and relatively inexpensive all year long. Plus, they help give the smoothie a great texture.

I would substitute a different fruit juice. O.J. will kill you, ya know!

I'd say "beersmoothie". Gotta leave the beer in there...

Ok, so let's say I wanted to make this peanut butter cup smoothie at home. I have a blender. Now what? Recipe, recommended ingredients?

Sounds like you could just use a cup of vanilla yogurt and some Reese's peanut butter cups . . . good to go. Maybe some ice to give it a little boost in texture . . .

Yogurt (vanilla rather than plain), some milk, a couple TBSP of Peanut butter, a few TSPs of cocoa powder and a banana would be my starting point....

Experiment! smiling smiley

Mmm, smoothies!! The Ben and Jerry's store here makes some great ones. I like the mango tango. Better yet, they have a card that gives you a free one after you buy 5. Dude, I got brain freeze!

Yeah, I can't believe that is your first smoothie - but you've had a milkshake or a frappe before, right?

A quick breakfast for me is yogurt (plain but sometimes I use the Banilla from my kids' stash or if I'm making one for them), frozen blueberries, a banana and (for me only) a dash of protein powder.

If you can get a good powdered (instant) coffee (like Elite), make your own frappucino with the coffee, milk and ice. Adjust fat and calorie content as desired.

Hurts like a bastid...

I've had milkshakes before but not a frappe. Thanks for all the posts!
