Douglas Adams' Widow is Destroying His Legacy

I say this with all due respect: She is destroying the legacy of Douglas Adams and needs to be stopped.

First, she allowed Disney to keep the rights to the film version of HHGG when DNA, himself, knew better and was trying to get the rights back.

She did not learn the appropriate lesson from the disaster that followed.

Now she has sold the rights to make sequels to his books.

The first one will be written by Eoin Colfer. Out of the half-dozen or so skilled collaborators whom DNA might have considered working with on a sequel, the publisher considered NONE of them and instead went for a popular children's book author. They will, undoubtedly, make and market the sequel as a children's book.

Somebody, please stop her. If she really needs the money, we can take up a collection.

Given how I would read his temperament and outlook on life from what I've read and seen, I have a feeling ultimately his concern would fall on his family's welfare and benefit over and above anything else, even if their actions are not ones he would have taken himself. The original works will remain to be read and enjoyed for their own merits, whatever watered down progeny may spring from the loins of lesser lights.

I'm not complaining about the licensing.

I'm complaining that there's no quality-control. Surely she could at least make a token effort in that direction if she wanted to.

As an atheist, Adams might tell us that we shouldn't give a dingo's left kidney about preserving his legacy post-mortem as he's not currently in a position to offer gratitude, but as one of the living I reserve the right to be offended by this crap.
