I jumped on buying some more AAPL when I saw the price dipped below $100. I didn't know why it dropped, but I quickly pulled the trigger before it recovered.

Sometimes you're the windshield.

Definitely shows the concern for leadership at Apple, perception (be it true or not) of the lacking of a good team behind Jobs to lead Apple should Jobs be out of the picture for any reason. Crappy rumor - but a lot more concerning what a big swing such an unsubstantiated rumor was able to cause.

When you look at Apple's products you realize that they are working the the 'next big thing' usually several years in advance. If Jobs were to disappear, it would be 2-3 years before it would have any material affect on Apple. There is a reason that we call him the 'leader' though. Managing and leading are two very different tasks.

I do hope they investigate this. A similar thing happened several years ago with Emulex, and the FBI tracked down the source, and he was sentenced to 44 months in prison.

The beauty of linking to wikipedia while discussing how easy it is to propagate false information on the internet is so exquisite it makes my heart flutter.

So, here's one from the SEC too.

There is no "concern" for leadership at Apple. There is, however, FUD and criminal stock manipulation.
