I saw the preview for "The Spirit" yesterday. I generally like Miller's stuff, but the movie looks like way too much Miller and not nearly enough Eisner. Too bad.

Miller is too much in love with Miller. I had heard that the new trailer was less Sin Citycentric, but after seeing it, that's being very generous. I heard someone say that the trailer gives a few "nods" to Eisner. Nods? You don't make a movie of *the* Eisner comic and then just give Eisner a few "nods." You should be doing a paen to the man.

Miller is a one note filmmaker. Granted it's a very entertaining note, but it's not the right one for every movie, regardless if it's based on a comic or not.
