More on Birthday Posts
Posted by: IronMac

If this forum is going to turn into a series of birthday posts by people in reaction to yesterday's thread, then, it's a waste of time. The rationale for fragmentation has just been strengthened.

Yes, and while we're at it, we need a new forum just for USB scales.

And 24.

We need a whole forum just for those ALMEIDA threads.

While we're at it, how about a forum just for people to complain about the DM forums and to brag about how good it is here.

We also need a forum just for snakes, kittens and baby pictures.

Can we have a forum dedicated to the progress of my deck?

Which thread are you talking about? I'd like to read it.

I don't. I'm tired of forum preachers.

How about a forum dedicated to "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum"?

I think the birthdays balance the "RIP"s very nicely. Someone should start posting the average high and low temperatures for Woodstock, along with a few gardening tips, and we could call this place "The Old Larry's Almanac".

I don't really care *what* people post about in the Macresource.com forum; it's so much better here than at the "other place" simply because we're allowed so much freedom to post what we want (within reason and common decency).

If MM's on a tear about B'Day posting, it's all good, who cares? We're all capable of skipping the posts we don't want to read. And the "Ignore" feature works great too--if it comes to that choice one may always just avoid a member that bothers or annoys.

Personally, I'd like to see some more technical/help posts, because I like answering system, OS, or hardware issues in forum members' Macs more than anything else. I guess there's been less trouble overall lately with people's Macs, not so many things going wrong, possibly.

Carry on, nice forum people. Everything's going fine as far as I can see. It's just great to be here instead of "over there," where Control is everywhere, lurking, ready to pounce at a moment's notice.

There is a forum that offers the desired fragmentation. This isn't it.

You're in the wrong forum for that. Try MacFixit.

Uh, no thank you. Macfixit has become paying-customers-only, and they're now making money off of the expertise of their user base.

Actually, no. I was just there this morning and you're allowed to post.

IronMac, yes, you're allowed to post-- but the forums are still being culled for the purposes of making money for the paid-only access. It would be akin to leaving this forum free, but then taking advantage of the information contributed by the user base for making a paid-only access website. It's just sleazy.
