$1500 but he says it is 'like new' so that makes it worth it.

Wow

A G4 running a 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo and 2 GB of 667 MHz RAM (on a 100MHz bus no less)

That's something you don't see to often (except from craigslist idiots)

it's a bargain at $15.00 .... oops I mean $150 ..... $1500 ! Whaaaat ?

The brainiac must have taken a screenshot of the new machine's specs in About This Mac...
And that G4 can't be more than a, what, dual 533Mhz - or did they go up to 733Mhz in the Graphic before introducing the Quicksilver? g=

Nope, the DA machines were a single 533, a single 667 or a dual 533. I don't believe there was ever a DA 733.

There actually WAS a DA 733. It was in some respects better than the Quicksilver 733.

I recently saw an eBay listing for a G4 with a Celeron processor…

Thanks for the refresher - I forgot about the Digital Audio series - same Graphite (not "Graphic" as I indicated above but I guess the boneheadedness of the craigslist Core 2 Duo G4 posting put my brain in shock) case as the earlier G4s. Then the Quicksilver... I just forgot if it was the DA -> Quicksilver or the QS -> MDD transition that left people complaining that the old model was better. Or did both transitions suffer from a cache reduction that caused the newer models to slightly underperform the previous iteration by relatively minimal amounts for most tasks?

Seeing things like this makes the deal I got on a Mac mini yesterday on Craigslist seem even that much better!

I don't remember any drawbacks to the MDDs as compared to the QuickSilvers. In every respect except noise, they were an improvement. Although the last Quicksilvers did at least get over the 120GB drive size limit.

I knew nothing about the DA models until recently, when a friend acquired one. I had no idea until recently that there was a graphite tower faster than 667 MHz. The whole G4 line prior to the MDDs passed me by. That's what happens when you only buy a new Mac every five to seven years.

Craig pulled it from his list.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.
