My son just purchased an XBox 360. He hasn't bought the wireless adapter for it yet (although I may let him use my Linksys Broadband wireless router I just replaced with an Airport Extreme Base Station.) In the meantime, he has connected the XBox 360 to his MacBook with an Ethernet cable. (Found this info on the web.) He configured everything as per the instructions he found but it still reporting an issue with the Internet connection. I don't use wireless security, although MAC Access Address Control (my other sons iMac uses a Belkin USB adapter that doesn't play nice with security.)
I inputted the MAC address for the XBox in the MAC Address Access Control but the XBox still reports an Internet error when he tries to download the update for it (which is apparently needed to play Live.) He found a tech support area that suggested opening up firewall settings on the router but that makes me nervous. I don't know much about playing with the firewall.
Anyone set up an XBox with an Airport Extreme Base Station that can give me advice?
Thanks,
Michael
P.S. Would it simplify things if I just let him use the Linksys router instead of going through his MacBook?
