I need advice re list server hosting

I am a member of a condo association with about 60 other members.

Communication has a bit of a problem. The members are spread all over the place and the Board hasn't shown much interest in keeping people up to date. Their preferred mode of operation is to send out a letter with a bunch of rule changes all in legalese for an up or down vote with no opportunity for discussion. They do have a website where they post a news letter( nothing about condo business) and Board meeting minutes.

My thought is to use a discussion list server so that the other members could discuss things among themselves assuming that I could get the board to give advance notice of their intentions.

There are a lot of list server hosting operations. I wonder if any of you have some recommendations. Ease of use is important. $ is not a major concern. I don't want much in the way of personnel ongoing involvement

I welcome any ideas you have on any part of my problem

Thanx

How about Phorum?

(What we're typing on now)

It's very configurable, and although I haven't installed it myself, I'm told it's pretty easy to do (relatively speaking). I have administered the Phorum software before, and have experience moderating it. It's really nice stuff.

You can check out all the modifications you can do to it, and read more about it at [www.phorum.org]

phorum or phpbb would be good solutions, and both are easy to install if you know a thing or two about web databases. I've done it a bunch of times.

they're both free, and you'll need a website to host them on. There are tons of options for hosts, and you should be able to find one that'll work for you for around $10/month(maybe a few dollars less or more).

get it setup and running, and you shouldn't need much direct involvement if you set everything up right. You may need to spend an hour or two every couple of months to install updates to the bulletin board software and do any general maintenance, but nothing much beyond that.

email me if you have any further questions.

good luck.
