Color Management Help

I use Capture NX 1.3.1 (Mac) to import NEFs from my CF card. I primarily use Costco to print my photos. Should I set the defaults to use their Dry Creek Photo ICS as the default RGB color space?

I do have their profile set up as the profile for printing, but that would presume that I am printing directly from my computer to the printer, so I dont think this would color match for me.

I have used Apple's Colorsync to profile my LCD display, but in my last print (first time since using this LCD), the photos came out too dark. I suspect either one of two things:
1) I had forgotten to embed the color profiles in PS CS4
or
2) I had adjusted my LCD incorrectly

Thanks for any and all help...

btw- is there a relatively cheap way to color match my LCD with the printer from Costco?

Okay. I think I got it nailed down.

Colorsync tells you to set the contrast to 100%. I think for LCD displays it's too harsh. When I recalibrated at 75% contrast (on the LCD), the screen looks better.

How do you guys color match and calibrate your screens?

Mattkime is right. You need a profile for your monitor and a profile for each printer/paper combination.

Here is a good book on the subject.

An alternate to the eye-one is Colormunki.
