My parents have been raving about their Eden Pure and how much less they've paid in electricity and gas to heat their house this winter (NW Indiana, just off lake Michigan). They liked it so much they got two of the iHeater knock-offs. They heat the bedrooms at night and the main floor during the day with three heaters.

With our gas bill at $140 last month, I'm anxious to get ours. We don't keep the house all that warm (65 max), but I'm hoping to have the heater paid for in 2.5-3yrs of savings.

Between my Dad and I, we own 5 of these heaters (2 were bought as discount refurbished units). I'm not sure they reduce heating costs (lower gas, higher electric), but I worry much less as my 2 year old daughter can play near (or even on top of) the heater without fear of getting burned.

I leave one in her bedroom to heat it toasty warm, while the rest of the house is rather chilly during the night. Plus, I don't worry about it tipping over and starting a fire like other space heaters.

Well, I purchased one of those whole house electricity meters for us and my parents for Christmas. Their average hourly consumption was about $.22 while we were there for the holiday. That was running at least two of those heaters at all times. Our house runs about $.10/hr. on average, so we will soon see how it compares.

Glad to be living in So. CA at chilly time like this.

Our electricity isn't that bad. It's a viable option at about $.10/kWh ($.10/hr average or roughly $72/month @ 24hrs/day).

There's something about all of this that's striking me as strange, although I can't put my finger on it. If I understand your post correctly, you're saying that having your electricity bill more than double will be cheaper than continuing to heat the house with gas?

I heat my 50's ranch in central NC for a little over a $1/day with a Heat Pump
and we keep on 69 or 70 and leave there. We have around 1900sq.ft.

Yep. Last month gas bill was very high.
