1.5tB external firewire drive $149- deal or no ?

Microcenter is selling what I believe is an old model. I've had good luck with my 500G Seagate, and of course data expands to fill the available storage. What's good is that it will work on the old G4 Sawtooth itunes server, and can be accessed via the network for those 105. users using the backup tool.

Is this a good deal ?

Microcenter's cheaper drive, and no ugly rebate bad stuff !

I don't think it is an old model as the 1.5 TB have not been out that long and that is a newer style case.

Bare drives are not much less ($129 or so on sale) so $150 for a triple interface case seems like
a good price for one from a quality vendor

With the triple interface- "USB 1.1/2.0; FireWire 400 (1394a); eSATA-300" it seems like a good deal.

A quick search on a few sites the cheapest I found was $199+ shipping at ZipZoomfly or $201 shipped at Buy.com

I wish there was a microcenter in central indiana. I would risk it.
Newegg reviews are not stellar...FYI.

some of those reviews deal with Windows issues, FWIW.

I just received the 1 TB version of this drive from Seagate as a warranty replacement for a 6 month old defective FreeAgent Pro drive. Brand new, not refurbished. It is definitely the newer model "Windows" only drive ( i.e. no Mac software). I didn't use the FreeAgent software anyway. It appears that Seagate no longer makes a triple interface model with a SATA port for the mac, so I guess this is why they sent me the Windows version of the drive. The FreeAgent Pro was firewire, USB and SATA. The new version for the Mac is Firewire 800, 400 and USB. So far, the drive has worked fine.

That is a good deal. I've never been a huge fan of those cases...but you can pop off the base of those (two screws) so that you can lay it flat...or slim it up even more for the vertical.

On the drive I got, the stand was optional. It also came with four rubber feet to lay it flat.
