slang?

Two of my coworkers are talking and one says, "we were just going along and I'm like.... we're skitting!" I tried to look up skitting in a slang dictionary with no luck. What do you think they meant?

In the rust belt, we use the term skitching to refer to bumper surfing behind a car in the snow.
