Pagemaker question

Will Pagemaker 6.5 or 7 work with OSX? or only with 9.2.2 which I'm using now with PageMaker 6 & 7.

Do I have to use the new CS whatever with my G4 and OSX? and if so will my Old Pagemaker files import? I can import PageMaker 5 with PM6 but don't know about the new CS program or whatever it is call...if it will open (and then I can revise) my old files.

Thanks.

PageMaker will not work with OS X unless you are able to run classic on it.

InDesign is the Adobe app. that replaced PageMaker, I'm not sure how far back it will open files, I open PM 6.5 files all the time at work, the text sometimes wraps a little differently and links need to be updated.

InDesign opens PM files just fine. (A few small details, such as paragraph rules, sometimes have to be redefined).

I'm an old-time PM user from waaaay back, set in my ways, and I took to InDesign much more quickly than I expected to.

Ah, thank you. I have 6, 6.5 and 7 Pagemaker (and I too go way way back to Pagemaker 1 on the Mac..but I don't think it was called Pagemaker 1 then) I have not tried InDesign altho I have it. stuck in my ways I guess.

OS X has been the de-facto operating system for what, 6 years now?
Time to start letting OS 9 go... :-D

And yes, InDesign will open Pagemaker 6.5 and Pagemaker 7 documents (at least). Like Mr Downtown says, maybe a little tweaking here and there once they're converted, but not bad.]

Make the leap. InDesign had one of the roughest starts for an app I've ever seen, but that's ancient history. It's been a stellar application for a long time now. You won't regret coming into the 21st century. winking smiley

what do you use PM for these days? all of my PM needs have been very well served by BeLightSoft's Swift Publisher.
