OT: Welcome a new member of the family...Etta

Just brought her home tonight. So far no accidents (keeping my fingers crossed)...

Etta is 12 weeks old. A beautiful Bouvier puppy. We lost our Lacey girl last Thanksgiving. Etta has big shoes to fill. Not fair to compare one dog to the next. They're all different.

This is our second Bouv. Our male, Mac; is 6 years old.

They are big, lovable couch potatoes. They play hard when you want to and take it easy the rest of the time.

Awwwww. I have a friend with a litter of four-week-old Belgian Tervuren puppies. They are little butterballs, fun to snuggle and play with.

Have fun with Etta, she looks like a pip.

She is playing pretty hard with our 3 year old daughter. I think that is because Hannah is the closest to her size. We are going to have to keep an eye on that.

Etta seems to be smart as a whip. After playing, she calms down very nicely. She has warmed up to me. That is a good plan. Win Dad over and she will have it made.

I cringed when my wife said she wanted another dog. You know, you have an older dog and they are completely housebroken. I just dread going through the puppy stuff. They are the cutest at that time; that probably saves their hide when they chew a hole in your socks or poop in your shoe.

Just like dealing with babies, the really hard part doesn't last very long.

She measures 17 inches at the shoulders...12 weeks old!

She should fall in somewhere between 23.5-26.5 inches and weigh around 90 pounds when full grown.

I don't think so. Jackie Kennedy wasn't that big of a woman, was she?

Not as hairy either.

Well, that was back in the day when every detail didn't make it to the press so we can't be for sure.

(vague reference to an Etta James song.)

That's what my wife is singing.

The nice thing is...

First night here for the new puppy. A few initial cries from her but she laid down and went to sleep. I think this one is a keeper!

Congrats! Was this pup the result of the long trip through bad weather?

She's a beauty. Enjoy, and realize that the housebreaking is a process.

iaJim,

We picked her up yesterday.

The original plan was to bring her home the week before (during the blizzard) but it didn't work out that way.

I figure that is one less week of accidents we have to deal with.

She is such a sweety.
