My less than a year old 2.4 MBP won't charge past 95%.
Anything I can do to remedy that??

TIA,

You are much better than I was with my two year old MBP & Battery. That is actually pretty good.

I was getting about 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 hours on battery life.

I bought a new battery and I am back in the game. I suggest you do the same.

I got a great deal on a fresh new battery from LA Computer. I think it was $79. And a good $79 spent if I do say so.

Let the battery drop below 90% charge. The battery won't charge if it is above 95%. I believe this is a safety feature to prevent constant charging of the battery.

Did you check on the system profiler to see how many cycles your battery had? I think they figure around 350 is about the life span of the battery. How long does the charge last? There is also a program on some MBP batteries. I'm not sure of the dates on that though.

To further clarify my post above, if you run on battery power and it only discharges to 95% or above, then you plug it back in, the battery won't charge. I don't know if this is the problem you are seeing but I have observed this behavior on my 2.4 MBP. I believe Apple has a document on this.

run the battery down till the laptop shuts itself off (below 12% I think, you can force it lower) then charge fully. I think this resets the battery power management settings. Mine almost never hits 100%.

My cycle count is only 44, but this thing is maybe 16 months old.

Wow, I've got 101 load cycles on my 17" MBP in only six months. My max charge is 99%. It's not unusual for me to run the battery all the way down. I'm hoping to see a price drop on the dual battery charger / conditioner. They've been around $150 forever. Now that the form factor on the MBP has changed, I'll watch for clearance prices.
