NeatReceipts: Scanner+OCR software. Any opinions?

I am thinking of buying Neat Receipts scanner and software.
Anyone here use it? Or have any info on someone that does?

Sam's Club has it for $154

I have a ton of receipts and medical 'receipts' (EOBs) that would be great to sort/find/store in a more effective manner.

Discuss.

STF for ScanSnap by Fujitsu.
More exspensive, but it's gotten better review.
I like using ReceiptWallet with it.

As someone who is genetically untidy, that looks a "neat" solution.

we've got one here at the office. Works very well. Would be a great tool for someone trying to tidy up and have better records of a bunch of receipts.

I wonder how well the OCR works...looks like my old SCSI PaperPort Vx reincarnated; man, I loved that thing grinning smiley

In case you were looking for it, ReceiptWallet is now known as Paperless.

I mostly use Yep! to manage ScanSnap documents.

doesn't the IRS require originals for tax purposes? I can print up all sorts of great tax deductions with a good scanner and photoshop for editing otherwise.

The software works with several different mult-function printers. You might be able to save some money. I got it working with my Canon Pixma MP610. Works great. I think the software is better than ReceiptWallet.

I just sent one of those to Goodwill a few days ago. I cleaned out a closet that was filled 9 years ago when I moved into this house and there it was. Guess I didn't need it.

From the Mariner website:
Painlessly handle taxes and accounting
In many cases, the IRS (or other tax authority) may accept electronic copies of your receipts. (Italics mine)

Also, PDFs take quite a bit of disk space. I save my online software purchase receipts/registration as PDFs and they average around 100 kb per.

Still, seems like a good idea to cut down some of the paper clutter in my file cabinet

Good to see they finally got out their Mac version. The separate software is available for purchase at 79.95. And the ReceiptWallet (now Paperless) is 44.95. Wonder what the big difference is. Anyone tried both to compare??
