Need to put a dvd(no encription)of family movies on a flash drive. Going to Australia and running out of time. Time Warner is not helping with their service being out all day. The drive is a 8g sdhc and I have a usb player for it. The "popular hint-hint" mini computer is running Leopard. Thanks in advance...

Handbrake will convert the dvd to a format that can be played with Quicktime, iTunes, or VLC. If the dvd is not encrypted, you can also just drag the Video_TS folder from the dvd to the flash drive. Then use Apple's DVD Player or VLC to play the file. With DVD Player, go File>Open, select the Video_TS folder on the flash drive.

I believe that that if the Video_TS folder is alone on the drive, DVD player will launch when the drive mounts thinking that the drive is actually a dvd

Have you tried this.

Disk Utility / select your dvd / create new image (save to your hard drive.)
Disk Utility - reformat 8GB flash drive. Click restore tab. Choose your DVD image as source, and the freshly formatted flash drive as Destination.

Or, just copy your Video_TS.
